Prarie Houses Apartments
A new apartment building was designed on a site on the west side of Chicago, bordering Oak Park which is the birthplace of Prarie Style architecture and many buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright. The apartment building is entered at the corner of the site, with an inner courtyard where garages and tenant parking are located. The design incorporates many elements associated with Prarie Style design.

Entry – The second floor continues across the entry to the inner courtyard.
Street view – The building entry is at the corner of the building, at the corner of the site. The use of brick, the banded window bays, the visual organization of the building into horizontal zones, and the deep roof overhang are all associated with Prarie Style design. The wood fence separates private patios from the street.
Courtyard – The inner courtyard contains the apartment entries and garage doors. The Prarie Style design elements continue at the courtyard elevations.
